Sports massage

Sports massage focuses on the muscles you use most in training and activity, to support recovery, mobility and readiness. Mirek Werykowicz, RMT, brings it to you across Oakville, Mississauga, Burlington and Milton.

Sports massage is geared to active adults and athletes. It combines firmer techniques with movement-focused work to support muscle recovery, ease training-related tightness, and help maintain range of motion through a training cycle.

Best for

  • Active adults and recreational athletes
  • Recovery between training sessions
  • Training-related muscle tightness
  • Maintaining range of motion and mobility

Good to know

  • For a recent sprain, strain, or acute injury, see your physician or physiotherapist first.
  • If you simply want to relax, a Swedish or relaxation massage is a better fit.

What to expect

Mirek asks about your sport, training load and any niggles, then works the relevant muscle groups at an appropriate pressure. Sessions can be timed around events or heavier training blocks.

Insurance receipt

As a Registered Massage Therapist (CMTO Ontario), Mirek provides an official RMT receipt after your session that you can submit to your extended health plan for possible reimbursement. This is a receipt for reimbursement, not direct billing.

Questions about sports massage

What is sports massage?

Sports massage is massage focused on the muscles and movements involved in your activity. It uses firmer, targeted techniques to support recovery, ease training-related tightness, and help maintain mobility. It suits active adults and athletes, and does not require you to be a competitive athlete to benefit.

How is sports massage different from a regular massage?

A regular massage aims at general relaxation. Sports massage is tailored to your training: it targets the muscle groups you use most, works at a firmer pressure, and is often timed around activity to support recovery and readiness rather than simply to relax you.

What is the difference between sports massage and deep tissue?

They overlap. Deep tissue focuses on releasing deep, chronic muscle tension anywhere in the body. Sports massage is organised around your activity, targeting the muscles your training stresses and supporting recovery and mobility. A session can include deep tissue techniques where they help.

Is a sports massage worth it?

For active people, regular sports massage can support recovery, ease tightness, and help you keep moving well, which many find worthwhile. It is supportive care rather than a promised performance boost. Mirek can advise on useful timing and frequency for your training.
